The Hidden Reason You’re Burnt Out

(And How to Reclaim Your Power)

Have you ever felt like no matter how much you do, it’s NEVER enough?

Especially now—with talks of a looming recession, the cost of living rising, and the constant pressure to do more, be more, produce more—it’s like there’s no off switch.

And if you’ve been feeling that way, let me tell you something important:
It’s NOT your fault. It is by DESIGN.

We hear it all the time—my generation has to work twice as hard just to afford what the generation before us had.

That’s not just a feeling. The numbers back it up.

But let’s go even deeper.

This system wasn’t built for rest.
This society rewards hustle over health, production over peace, and burnout over balance.

And you know what? That conditioning didn’t start with us.
The roots go way back—to a history where my people were dehumanized for the sake of profit. Where rest was stolen. Where individual value was literally tied by the dollar to labor.

And now? Even though times have changed, the culture and mindset haven’t.

We’ve given this struggle a name: burnout. 🔥
But burnout isn’t just about working too much. It’s about the way this system has conditioned us to disconnect.

⚡️ Disconnected from ourselves — so we ignore our needs.
⚡️ Disconnected from our community — so we believe we have to do it all alone.
⚡️ Disconnected from our spirit — so we forget where our real power comes from.

And knowing this is the world we live in, you might be wondering: What’s the point of even trying?

Listen—burnout isn’t the end of your story. It’s a signal. A sign that you’ve been intentionally disconnected from your power. And yes—they do it by design so that you forget just how powerful you really are. So that you feel helpless—and keep PUSHING harder. But God reminds you that you don't need to push harder... you already have power—real, divine, unstoppable power.

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."

2 Timothy 1:7

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead? That power isn’t just an idea—it’s alive in you.

"And his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead."

Ephesians 1:19-20

Burnout tricks you into thinking you’re powerless. But that is a lie.

Your power has never left you. You don’t need to search for it—you need to stand in it. It’s time to reclaim what has always been yours.

I know this firsthand. One day, I was on an email chain about my son about his education. I checked my message for clarity, assuming there had to be some misunderstanding. But when they responded, I read and re-read their words… until it was clear.

They didn’t care. They weren’t giving him what he needed.

The same system we're talking about today preys on Black boys, and spits them out — and it had set its sights on MY son.

I froze. My body tensed with rage... I was already stretched thin—and now I had to carry this, too? The fear hit me in the chest. The frustration felt volcanic. And beneath it all, there was this fierce clarity rising up in me.

And I’ll be real with you—burnout almost had me too exhausted to fight. The weight of it tried to crush me.

That’s when I remembered. The system wants me too drained, too disconnected, too burnt out to resist. But my power is not theirs to take. I stepped into it. And when I did? I had the clarity, the strength, and the divine authority to move—not just for myself, but for him.

Not only do I have the power I need for myself… but I have the power I need to advocate FOR and love ON my son.

That’s what happens when you stop letting burnout make the decisions for you.

The truth? This system isn’t going to change overnight. It will keep demanding more, and if you keep waiting for the right time to reclaim your power… you’ll keep waiting forever.

Because that’s what burnout does. It keeps you exhausted just enough to keep going—but never enough to break free.

And that’s exactly what the system is counting on.

  • If you stay stuck in this cycle, you’ll keep feeling exhausted, unfulfilled, and disconnected.

  • You’ll keep second-guessing yourself, pushing through when you should be standing in your power.

  • You’ll keep putting off your peace, your purpose—your fight—because you’re too drained to fully show up.

  • And you’ll wake up months (or years) from now, still wondering why you feel so depleted, why nothing changed.

But what if instead… you made the choice today to take back control?

What if you stood in your power NOW—before burnout makes that choice for you?

Burnout doesn’t just disappear with more motivation or a better planner. You need a deeper reset—and a plan that’s Spirit-led and soul-aligned.

Here are three shifts you can begin to explore today:

✨ Spot the mindset traps that keep you hustling past your limits. Notice the thoughts that whisper, “I can’t stop” or “I should be doing more.” These beliefs are learned—and they can be unlearned.

✨ Build spiritual and practical tools that help you move through life with clarity, ease, and purpose. That might look like breathwork, journaling, values-based routines, or simply asking, “What does God want for me today?”

✨ Create a rest rhythm that restores you. Not performative self-care, but real rest rooted in truth—so you can lead from overflow, not obligation.

These aren’t just nice ideas—they require real rewiring.

And you’re not meant to do that alone.

This is the kind of deep, supported work I do with my clients. Together, we don’t just talk about burnout—we break free from it. With the right guidance, structure, and spiritual support, it becomes not only possible but inevitable.

Your power, peace, and purpose are not lost. They’re waiting for you on the other side of burnout—and I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.

The world will tell you to keep pushing.
God is telling you—it’s time to come home to your power.

Which voice will you listen to?
